MoCI says Belarusians may see 5G within next decade

According to TeleGeography Dmitry Shedko, first deputy minister at the Ministry of Communications and Informatisation (MoCI), says that 5G mobile networks will be live and operational in Belarus within the next ten years.
In the wake of an International Telecommunication Union (ITU) conference in South Korea, which foregrounded a demonstration of fifth-generation technology, Shedko said: ‘Today, the majority of countries with a good level of technical development, as a rule, based on the third-generation standard. 4G is not yet implemented everywhere. In Belarus, for example, it will appear in the next year and will be based on [Long Term Evolution] LTE … New standards for 5G will be approved in 2018 [and] this technology works, and is the future for our industry’.
