Belarus telecom subscriber base hits 4.5 mln in 2014

According to Telecompaper the Belarusian fixed telephony subscriber base totaled over 4.5 million on 1 January, up by 58,400 in 2014, according to ITC Minister Sergey Popkov. Over 3.6 million broadband ports were available in the country, and around 290,000 subscribers were connected to GPON networks. The figure will be raised to over 500,000 by 2016.
The fixed broadband subscriber base amounted to 2.7 million, with service penetration at 29.8 percent.
The internet gateway grew by 290 Gbps, to 770 Gbps in 2014. The mobile network covered 99.8 percent of the country's population, with penetration at 120.3 percent. The number of mobile subscribers reached over 11 million.
