According to BelTA Free Wi-Fi service is now available at 19 Belarusian railway stations.
The service has been commissioned by the Belarusian mobile carrier Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) for Belarusian Railways, BelTA learned from the press service of Belarusian railway operator. The joint large-scale project is meant to expand the list of additional services for passengers and enhance Belarus' appeal for tourists. All in all, 103 Wi-Fi hotspots have been set up in waiting areas and lobbies, and also in lounges in Minsk and Brest. The technology has been tested for over two weeks. During this period of time, more than 17,000 people availed of free Wi-Fi at the railway stations. The greatest interest was seen in Minsk, Gomel, and Vitebsk. ID verification is required to use the service. The customer should enter the mobile phone number to receive an SMS with a password to get access to the Wi-Fi network. ID verification is required every 24 hours. MTS noted that the joint project with Belarusian railways is one of the largest and the most significant for the mobile carrier. Free Wi-Fi is now available at the railway stations of Minsk, Brest, Baranovichi, Vitebsk, Gomel, Grodno, Mogilev, Bobruisk, Borisov, Zhlobin, Kalinkovichi, Krichev, Lida, Luninets, Molodechno, Orsha, Osipovichi, Polotsk, and Pinsk.
