According to TeleGeography Mobile network operator (MNO) MTS Belarus has revealed that more than 220,000 rail passengers are accessing its free Wi-Fi services at stations around the country, following the signing of an agreement with Belarusian Railways last year.
The MNO’s free service is open both to MTS subscribers and rail travellers, with users collectively downloading more than 120TB of data in the first year. Further, MTS Belarus notes that passengers accounted for more than 500,000 connections to the public Wi-Fi service – the top five stations being in Minsk, Brest, Gomel, Orsha and Zhlobin – with the average usage time recorded at 48 minutes per user connection. Along with the aforementioned stations, MTS Belarus notes that Wi-Fi is also available in the cities of Molodechno, Borisov, Baranovichi, Lida, Grodno, Luninets, Pinsk, Kalinkovichi, Mogilev, Osipovichi, Bobruisk, Krichev, Vitebsk and Polotsk.
