According to BelTA the Belarusian Communications and Informatization Ministry and the Latvian Transport Ministry have signed a protocol on cooperation in releasing the 694-790MHz radio-frequency band.
The document was signed in Minsk as a result of negotiations between Belarusian Communications and Informatization Minister Konstantin Shulgan and Latvian Transport Minister Talis Linkaits, BelTA has learned. Once the 694-790MHz radio-frequency band is no longer used for digital terrestrial television broadcasting, it will be possible to use it to develop mobile telecommunications networks relying on 5G technologies. A draft agreement on technical requirements for optimal and effective use of the 694-790MHz radio-frequency band in bordering territories will be worked out by 1 January 2020.
