According to BelTA a concept to guide cooperation of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the area of digital development of the society and an action plan to implement the concept were signed at a session of the CIS Heads of Government Council in Moscow on 25 October.
The documents have been worked out in order to shape digital environment in the CIS space, enable conditions for introducing a modern information and communication infrastructure as well as new technologies, conditions for more effective data sharing and for implementing innovative projects. A strategy on ensuring information security of the CIS member states was also approved. It relies on previously adopted fundamental documents in the sphere of national security and information security of the CIS states. Its provisions will be taken into account by interested ministries and government agencies of the CIS states as they perform regulatory functions and work out national regulations in the area of information security. An agreement on CIS Games was signed as well as an agreement on cooperation in creating and using standard samples of the composition and qualities of substances and materials. A number of other documents on interaction in various spheres were signed as well. The next session of the CIS Heads of Government Council will take place in Tashkent on 29 May 2020 under Uzbekistan's chairmanship.
