During 8 years of operation, Belarusian GSM operator Velcom has invested USD 402 mln into its network and services development. The volume of receipts of taxes in the budget has made more than 712 billion roubles (USD 334.64 mln)
As of April 19, 2007, Velcom's network covers 78 per cent of Belarusian territory with 93,3 per cent of country's population. Its mobile network covers about 99,9 per cent of Belarus's urban inhabitants. The company has 2,66 mln subscribers
Velcom Users (1999-2007)
Joint venture Mobile Digital Communications (Velcom) was founded in June 1998. The major Velcom shareholder Cyprus SBTelecom Ltd owns 49 per cent of shares, while Beltelecom and Beltechexport share 31 and 20 per cent respectively. Velcom has been the first GSM operator in Belarus, the company is an official representative of satellite communications operator Global Star in Belarus.
