Yota-Bel company started construction of a WiMAX network in Grodno, Belarus. The operator is planning to launch the first network in Belrus in 2010, and cover the entire country in 2017.
In August , 2009 Republic of Belarus' Security Council' State Comission of radiofrequencies provided Yota-Bel company with 2,5-2,6 GHz frequency
Yota-Bel, which was founded in October 2008, specializes in constructing and setting up broadband wireless Mobile WiMAX (4G) access network. In December 2008, the joint venture got a Ministry of Communications and Informatisation license for conducting activities in the sphere of communications. Yota-Bel is a part of the WiMAX Holding Ltd, to which Russian "Scartel" company (Yota brand).belongs
Belarusian WiMAX operator is a sister company of the Russian Scartel, as they both belong to the Cyprean offshore WiMAX Holding, 25,1% of which belong to Russian state corporation "Rostechnologii".
An infrastructure that has been tested in Russia will be used for deploying the network, in particular, WiMAX equipment IEEE 802.16e produced by Samsung will be used.
